Ways of Collecting Karaoke Discs

If you’re a karaoke enthusiast, you may be interested in collecting karaoke discs. There are a few different ways to collect karaoke discs, and the best method for you will depend on your budget and preferences.

Since you only get around 18–20 karaoke tracks on a disc, this is going to be an expensive hobby. Of course, if you are a KJ or DJ, then they could form an essential part of your equipment.

Some karaoke discs might have guide vocals. Therefore, you get half the number of tracks per disc. So, we recommend bypassing those. Of course, if you want to learn a new song, these types of discs could be beneficial. It comes down to how many discs you think you will buy and your budget.

Karaoke discs are also known as CDGs (Compact Discs + Graphics). There is also other karaoke media such as LaserDisc and video discs (DVDs and VCD), etc. However, in this post we will concentrate on the good old fashioned media we know as karaoke discs.

1. Online Retailers

One of the easiest ways to collect karaoke discs is to purchase them from online retailers. There are a number of websites that sell karaoke discs, including Amazon, eBay, and Walmart. When shopping online, be sure to compare prices and read reviews before making a purchase.

2. Thrift Stores or second-hand Shops

Thrift stores are a great place to find used karaoke discs at a fraction of the cost of new discs. However, it’s important to inspect the discs carefully before purchasing them to make sure they’re in good condition. Second-hand shops are great to browse, but always inspect the discs first.

3. Garage Sales or Car Boot Markets

Garage sales are another great place to find used karaoke discs. You can often find discs cheaply, and you may even be able to find rare or out-of-print discs. Car boot fairs are ideal because people just want to get rid of their old stuff. Again, you may find some real gems.

4. Karaoke Bars

Some karaoke bars sell used karaoke discs. This is a great way to get your hands on discs that have been used in a professional setting. However, be sure to ask the bar staff about the condition of the discs before purchasing them. So, if you know of a pub or club that is closing down, pop along and ask.

5. Friends and Family

If you have friends or family members who enjoy karaoke, they may be willing to lend you their discs or even give them to you for free. This is a great way to get your hands on a variety of discs without spending any money. However, ensure the discs are exactly as you got the; we don’t want any fallouts between friends and relatives, do we?
